DARREN’S MISSION

A World Record-Breaking Expedition:
333km Sit-Ski Journey to the Geographic South Pole

In December 2025, Darren Edwards will embark on an extraordinary journey, covering 333 kilometers overland by sit-ski to reach the Geographic South Pole. This challenging expedition will test his endurance and resilience as he navigates the harsh, icy terrain of Antarctica. Battling extreme cold, fierce winds, and the physical demands of propelling himself on a sit-ski, Darren demonstrates remarkable perseverance, and the spirit of adventure. The expedition will raise awareness and funds for a charity close to Darren’s heart - Wings for Life, seeking to to find a cure for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).

Eyewear Ready for the Antarctic

A self-supported expedition of this magnitude requires equipment ready for all conditions and environments. That’s where VALLON comes in.

POLAR UPDATES | Mar 2025

Training Expedition in Finse, Norway

Darren and his team have returned from their final training expedition on the Hardangervidda plataeu in Norway. The Hardangervidda has been used as a training ground for Antarctica by the likes of Shackleton, Scott, and Amundsen. Just like those three polar icons, Darren is attempting to prove what is possible for a polar explorer with a disability. His team spent a week crossing frozen lakes and wild tundra of Norway’s largest plataeu, a truly stunning frozen landscape. With conditions ranging from blizzards to bluebird skies, the expedition was a perfect opportunity to further test the Vallon gear the team will be taking with them to Antarctica in December.
