How to safely store ski and snow goggles
When your ski and snow goggles are not in use, we recommend keeping them in a microfiber pouch. This will help protect them from accidents, and prevent the lenses getting scratched. An elasticated goggle cover is also a good way to keep the lenses scratch-free.
Although VALLON goggles are designed for a range of weather conditions, it is advised to store your goggles somewhere without great temperature variations, as extreme heat will affect the frame and lens coatings over time.
What if I don’t have a ski and snow goggle case with me?
Similar to your sunglasses, if you are not wearing your goggles but don’t have a protective case with you, avoid placing them face-down.
Mirror coatings commonly found on ski and snow goggles are particularly prone to getting scratched if placed lens-down on a hard surface.
We otherwise always recommend sourcing a microfiber pouch, or goggle cover to keep the lenses protected when your goggles are not in use.
Common causes of damage to ski and snow goggle lenses
The most common damage to ski and snow goggle lenses happens when they are placed face-down, or dropped. If your goggles are not in use, we recommend storing them safely in a microfiber pouch, or covering them with a protective elasticated microfiber cover to protect the lenses from scratches and other damage.
Other common causes of damage to lenses include harsh chemical residues (including sun cream and other oil-based products), and extreme temperature variations. If your goggle lenses do come into contact with any chemical-based substances, we recommend removing the lens and rinsing it under clean cold tap water for a few minutes at the end of the day to remove any residue. Wipe dry with a microfiber cleaning cloth.
