Everyone has a favorite climber - but Alexander Megos is your favorite climber's favorite climber. Born in Germany, Megos worked his way up to become a powerhouse in the climbing community - In 2013, he became the first ever climber to onsight a 9a (5.14d) graded route. He has also made the first free ascent (FFA) of some of the hardest sport climbing routes in the world.

This collaboration spawned from a shared love of mother nature, being outdoors, and looking good at the same time. The Daytrippers Megos Edition come in a nice amber-honey color and feature a light-yellow sports headstrap. Featuring out top-of-the-line sports optics and durable acetate frame, these sunglasses are are ideal for any outdoor lover.
This last month we chatted about future plans and he told us he was going down under for some climbs along the coast - the perfect spot to test his new shades. His first trip down was cut short due to high temperatures, making the rock unclimbable. We chatted a bit about his goals and what was to come - he had a few climbs lined up that he knew he needed to get done before the season was up.
Returning a month later, Alex made his mark and accomplished his goal.
Megos made history by claiming the first ascent of Australia’s first-ever 5.15b (9b) route. Named Rapture of the Deep and located at Cheesedale near Nowra in New South Wales, Megos described it as "one of the best routes I've ever done" and called the line a "slice of heaven".
The line tackles a wild horizontal roof featuring a V11/12 boulder section, a dramatic mid-route pogo jump to a flat sloper, and a heart-breaking final crux right at the lip. On the same Australian trip, he also snagged the first ascent of Nothing But Sunshine (5.14c/8c+)

“I had a trip coming up to Australia to climb along the coastline near Sydney and check out some new places.
It was the first time I could bring these sunglasses with me and they will come on every trip from now on. They say the sun here has teeth, even during hot winters.
Having proper shades with dark lenses made it easier to pick out the details and contrast in the rock. After a few routes, we decided it was time to cool off, hit the ocean, and get some surfing in. Not a bad way to spend the day." - Alex
